Toyota LandCruiser 79 Series — parts, tuning and servicing

V8 & 4-cylinder turbo diesel

The 79 Series earns its keep with a tray on the back and a van behind it, and that's how we set them up. Whether it's the 4.5L 1VD-FTV V8 or the newer 1GD four-cylinder, the upgrades that matter are the ones that handle heat and load.

We supply and fit clutches, exhausts, suspension and injectors, and we tune the 79 in-house at Rocklea.

Toyota LandCruiser 79 Series — questions we get asked

Do you tune the 79 Series V8?

Yes — the 1VD-FTV V8 is one of the vehicles we tune most, usually for usable towing torque rather than peak power.

What's the first upgrade for a 79 Series?

Usually an exhaust, which lowers exhaust temperature under load and gives the tune more room. Suspension follows once you add tray, canopy or long-range tank weight.
