Toyota LandCruiser 79 Series tuning and performance in Brisbane

VDJ79 V8 and 1GD 79 Series work — ECU tuning, clutches, exhausts, suspension, injectors, servicing and diagnostics from one Brisbane workshop.

The 79 Series is the vehicle people keep, load up and rely on, which is exactly why the upgrades need to be chosen carefully. A 79 that carries a tray, a long-range tank and a van on the back is asking a lot of a standard clutch and a factory exhaust.

We work on both the 1VD-FTV V8 and the newer 1GD four-cylinder cars, and we handle the whole build — tune, driveline, exhaust and suspension — rather than one piece of it.

What we do

79 Series ECU tuning

Custom maps for the VDJ79 V8 and 1GD, aimed at usable torque and controlled exhaust temperatures. Tell us the load you carry and tow and the map is written for that, not for a dyno screenshot.

ECU tuning Brisbane

79 Series clutch upgrades

Heavy-duty and performance clutch kits for tuned and towing 79s, with the flywheel assessed as part of the job. If you're planning a tune, choose the clutch to suit the torque target.

Clutch replacement Brisbane

79 Series exhaust systems

Turbo-back and DPF-back systems to reduce backpressure and drop exhaust temperatures under load, with muffler choices depending on how much noise you want in the cabin.

Exhaust systems

79 Series suspension

Constant-load springs and shock packages set up around your actual tray, canopy and tow ball weight — the difference between a 79 that rides and one that hammers you.

Suspension

79 Series injectors and fuel system

Injector flow testing, remanufactured and uprated injectors for high-kilometre cars showing smoke, rattle or hard starting.

Servicing and diagnostics

Logbook and interval servicing for the 79 Series, plus scan-tool diagnosis for warning lights, boost faults and emissions systems. Work is covered by our 12-month / 20,000km warranty.

Building a 79 in stages

Most 79 builds go exhaust, then tune, then clutch when the standard unit gives up, with suspension slotted in when the load goes on. We're happy to map out an order that suits your budget.

Frequently asked questions

Do you tune the VDJ79 V8?

Yes — the 1VD-FTV V8 is one of the vehicles we tune most, usually for towing torque and temperature control rather than peak power.

Will a tune kill the 79 Series clutch?

The standard clutch is the usual weak point once torque climbs, especially on a towing car. We check it before tuning and quote a heavy-duty kit if needed.

What's the best first upgrade for a 79 Series?

Generally an exhaust — it lowers exhaust temperatures under load and gives a tune more room to work. Suspension comes next if you've added a tray, canopy or long-range tank.

Do you service 79 Series as well as modify them?

Yes — logbook servicing, diagnostics, brakes and safety certificates, alongside the performance work.
